Zoe Wees is an up-and-coming 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Hamburg, Germany. Not too long ago, she released a lovely debut single, entitled, “Control”.
Zoe Wees – “Control” single
‘Control’ feels universal on the surface. But in actuality, it’s a story of Zoe Wees’s struggles with Rolandic childhood epilepsy. She has wrestled with this condition since childhood and experiences loss of control, helplessness, and exclusion from others.
Although “Control” chronicles a tough time for Wees, there’s something uplifting to take from how she’s turned the past into something beautiful and ultimately positive. Furthermore, the song itself feels both reflective and urgent, but her performance is nothing short of powerful throughout.

“The sickness was stronger than me and left scars that have become part of my life. Also, accepting them has taken so much time, but they make me what I am today: a fighter.” – Zoe Wees
With a new year comes new breakout artists. For 2020 that person is Zoe Wees. “Control” serves as her biggest musical moment yet and a fantastic introduction to what listeners can expect to hear on her upcoming debut EP. Wees is a rare artist in the sense she possesses a unique vocal and leaves you hanging on every word she says. Before this release, she has been uploading performance clips on Instagram, garnering shares/reposts from the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Jessie J, Tom Walker, and Dean Lewis to name a few.
