Zaena X Jason Maek is a hip-hop/urban soul duo. Not too long ago, they released a music video for their “Nice to Meet Ya” single.
Zaena X Jason Maek – “Nice to Meet Ya”
“I don’t have much time in my life to live right so inside I get tired and lonely. It’s not like I don’t know nobody just nobody knows me not even my homies. They took all my kindness for weakness these secrets I keep because everybody owes me. I don’t take no favors from strangers. I’m straight. ‘Cause I hate when it feels like they owe me.” – Zaena’s lyrics
The Jason Maek-directed video finds a self-reflective Zaena in a bathtub flooded with gold water. She points out her deepest flaws and declares her desire to meet her real self again. Also, a later scene shows Maek shaving his facial hair in the mirror while performing his verse.
‘Nice to Meet Ya’ contains an introspective storyline, melodic vocals, and slow-grinding instrumentation embedded with R&B, hip-hop, and urban soul elements.
Jason Maek
“We all have different versions of ourselves, whether if it’s for social media, work, our parents, our friends, etc. But sometimes we get lost within all these versions of us that we forget who we really are. That is what this song is about.” – Jason Maek
‘Nice To Meet Ya’ is the third music video released from the duo within a month. The visual precedes the release of their sophomore project, entitled, “Freshman Vol.1”.
Zaena
“Nice to Meet Ya’ is one of my favorite songs because it’s real. The lyrics are raw and unfiltered. They express how Jason and I really feel about ourselves. If you listen, you can hear who we really are when the mics and cameras are turned off.” – Zaena
