The Sweeplings – “Deep & Wild” music video
“‘Deep & Wild’ is about missed opportunities and the danger in waiting. A cry of determination to fight for someone even as they are pushing you away. Also, ‘Deep & Wild’ is happy too. We sat and talked about what we were feeling. We each painted a picture, so we could finish it together.” – The Sweeplings stated
‘Deep & Wild’ contains a relatable narrative, pleasing vocals, and rich harmonies. Also, the likable tune possesses acoustic musicianship flavored with folk and Americana elements. Furthermore, “Deep & Wild” serves as a fantastic presentation to what listeners can expect to hear on The Sweeplings’ upcoming EP, entitled, “Losing Ground Vol. 2”, set to be released on September 18, 2020.
Not too long ago, they released their “Losing Ground Vol. 1” EP. The seven-track project features the stand-out single, “In Between”, co-written by John Paul White (The Civil Wars).
The Sweeplings – “Losing Ground Vol. 1” EP
“It took us a long time to get to ‘Losing Ground’. It’s a testament to the process. We split the two EPs in a way we feel makes sense. There’s a lot of material on both. Some songs are not so hopeful, while some of them are. It’s a balance.” – Cami Bradley stated
The two halves of the project ultimately comprise one heartfelt whole. Also, it finds The Sweeplings magnifying the beauty of life’s simplest pleasures through folk eloquence, indie spirit, and alternative soul.
The Sweeplings
“We started out going in one direction and realized it wasn’t working. We lost some ground in our process. At the same time, the songs can apply to falling out of love or struggling with addiction. It’s a human struggle. You’re always doing something with an intention. The general concept is you lose some ground from the struggle, but there’s always ground to be made. We put our friendship, our relationship, and our band on the line to make ‘Losing Ground’. We love this. It means something to us. We’d love for listeners to understand these places of brokenness and joy. Take a little piece of it and relate it to yourself. We did everything intentionally to create healing, excitement, and exploration. It comes from a place of complete honesty.” – Whitney Dean stated
Since emerging with their self-titled EP in 2014, The Sweeplings maintained a prolific pace. They’ve built a growing catalog consisting of four EPs Covers, and their music has been streamed over 100 million times online. Between frequent touring, they’ve landed syncs on “Pretty Little Liars”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Good Behavior”, “Longmire”, and “The Fosters”.
“Deep & Wild” single
“A few years ago, I was literally in a rental car with my husband when a song started playing. And we both shut our doors, sat there, and listened. It was only piano and vocals. We didn’t say anything. I felt like I was holding my breath. We try to write music that feels like that moment; music that makes you stop and forces you to just listen for a minute.”– Cami Bradley stated
“The Sweeplings are two musicians putting our hearts and souls out there with all we can. We want to create something special and magical with as minimal distractions as possible. That was our intention and thought process going into ‘Losing Ground’. It’s ‘Less is more’. We have four ingredients when we write. Why change them? We just let the performances speak for us.” – Whitney Dean stated
