“I wrote this one with two of my best buds (GoldFord & Josh Teitelbaum) after the 2017 inauguration – and what a crazy four years it has been ever since. I know there are a lot of people hurting out there, and my wish for this song is to bring a little hope to anyone who needs it.” – Teddy Grossman explained
‘Power In Pain’ contains an inspiring narrative and soulful vocals that will resonate well with fans of Sly & the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield, and Leon Bridges. The likable tune possesses lush instrumentation flavored with a retro soul vibration. Furthermore, “Power In Pain” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Teddy Grossman’s upcoming debut album, entitled, “Soon Come,” set to be released in the fall of 2021.

‘Power In Pain’ was produced by Ryan Pollie; with Grossman and the Family Company house band recording live to a Tascam 388 tape machine. Also, the song is graced by appearances from organist Charles Jones (Vulfpeck) and a stellar choir featuring Laura Mace (Foo Fighters), Jessica Childress (Portugal the Man, Allen Stone), GoldFord, and Cameron Forbes.
“Right on time, boy,” – the late Bill Withers reacted to an early recording of “Power In Pain.”
Grossman and drummer/co-writer, Josh Teitelbaum, struck up a unique and special friendship with Withers during the final years of his life.
