“Let the Cool Come Off” takes listeners on a delightful journey back to the late ’70s, igniting memories of legendary nightclubs like Studio 54, Marvin Gaye, and MJ’s “Off The Wall” album.
In his own words, T.J. Wilkins describes the experience that fueled the creation of his latest track: “It’s about losing yourself in the moment of a good time and was the last song we wrote in Mexico. We went to a club one night and I didn’t know any of the songs and couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, but it didn’t matter at all.” Wilkins’ awe was palpable, capturing the essence of nightlife in a way that transcended language. It was a refreshing reminder of the beauty in simply enjoying the moment, free from distractions like phones and social media.
“I was awestruck and captivated by how different the club culture was compared to nightlife in North America,” Wilkins admitted. “Nobody had their phones out, nobody was trying to seek attention, nobody was trying to look cool. Everyone was just having the time of their lives with their friends. Everyone looked like the star of their own movie. It felt honest and there was no judgment in the room.”
This memorable moment captured the spirit that inspired Wilkins’ “Let The Cool Come Off” single. With its harmonious rhythm and infectious energy, the song embodies the exhilarating feeling of losing yourself on the dance floor. As TJ puts it, “When you hear this one, your body doesn’t have any choice other than to move. You can’t sit still.” So, turn up the volume and let the groove take over!”
