Stephanie June is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter based in New York. Not too long ago, she released a lovely indie-pop tune, entitled, “Cry Baby Cry.”

“When I wrote this song in May of 2020, it really felt like the world as we knew it was ending. So I wrote ‘If we’re all gonna die I’d rather do it by your side’ from a very honest place. It’s about having intense feelings for someone who’s probably not right for you and giving over to those feelings for a moment. It’s about the relationship you almost laugh at when it’s fully done because you wouldn’t be who you are without it. It reminds me of this quote I often come back to by Khalil Gibran – ‘When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.’” – Stephanie June explained
‘Cry Baby Cry’ draws from Stephanie June’s own soul and experiences. The universal sentimental tune contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocalization, and pop-leaning melodies that will resonate well with listeners who favor alternative indie-pop music. Furthermore, “Cry Baby Cry” serves as a wonderful example of what listeners can expect to hear from Stephanie June in the near future.

“I think this song is going to make people really happy. I wrote it as an emotional ballad, but then my producers, Daniel Alvarez and Jordan Dunn-Pilz, and I turned it into an upbeat summer pop song. So the energy is high but once you peel away that layer, the lyrics bring you to a different place. I imagine people listening to it in the car with the top down, screaming the lyrics uncontrollably. I think people will hear it and think – ‘I’ve felt that I’ve been there.’” – Stephanie June explained
Stephanie June leaped into the music industry before she looked. In theater, she was able to exercise her vocal chops and stage skills. But for the past few years, she’s dedicated herself to music, crafting songs in her apartment, and building a body of work that she’s sharing one tune at a time.

“I had this idea of ‘Go before you’re ready. Don’t try to box yourself in.’ We’re changing every day, and the music changes with us. So what are you waiting for?” – Stephanie June stated
