“Been A Minute” is an eclectic track about self-growth and newfound independence after a toxic relationship. The song signifies a reunion for Snakehips and EarthGang, who have previously collaborated on various tracks, including “Sometimes…” from Snakehips’ last album “never worry,” and “Run It Up” in 2021.

Blending house, disco, funk, pop, R&B, and hip-hop elements, “Been A Minute” is a reflective and resonant surefire hit. Over Snakehips’ signature versatile, polished, and atmospheric production, EarthGang effortlessly complements the track with their trademark expressive flows while Harnett’s soulful vocals shine on the catchy chorus. With their combined elements, the result is a laid-back yet engaging sound that is both danceable and reflective – sure to be on heavy rotation on speakers far and wide all summer long.

“Been A Minute” is also the first single lifted from Snakehips and EarthGang’s upcoming collaborative 5-track EP, SNAKEGANG, which is set to electrify clubs and festival stages during Snakehips’ current US tour. Get tickets at Ticketmaster.com to see Snakehips perform LIVE.

“We wrote ‘Been A Minute’ back in January this year. Sinead & Earthgang were both in LA to perform at our show and we got in the studio for a few hours before to make some new music. The tune is about moving on from a bad relationship and getting away from the negativity and moving forward with positivity and no bad feelings – it’s a good vibe and was super fun to cook up. We’ve collaborated with both acts before; Sinead was one of the first singers we worked with back when our project first began and we’ve always been huge fans of hers. We’re hyped for this to be the first single from our upcoming SNAKEGANG EP with Earthgang.” – Snakehips explained

With over 2 billion streams, Snakehips continues to captivate listeners worldwide with their unique and evolving sound. The pair’s creative partnership began in a Hong Kong sake bar in 2010, leading to their 2015 hit “All My Friends” featuring Tinashe and Chance The Rapper, which went platinum in multiple countries and won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song.

In May 2023, the duo released their debut studio album, “never worry,” followed by a deluxe version. The genre-blending album features artists like Muni Long, Daya, EarthGang, BIA, Lucky Daye, Tinashe, and Kilo Kish, and received press from major media outlets. Known for their versatility, Snakehips have also collaborated with artists like Aminé, H.E.R., , ZAYN, and Anderson .Paak.

“We had a great time building a creative partnership and friendship with Snakehips. We’ve been fans of their sound for years before the first collab so it’s cool to bring this project to fruition. Hope it’s as fun to listen to as it was to make.” – EarthGang stated

EarthGang has been pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with their innovative albums, thought-provoking EPs, and masterful mixtapes well before signing to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records in 2017. Over the years, the duo has collaborated with J. Cole, Mac Miller, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Young Thug, Future, Kehlani, Wiz Khalifa, CeeLo Green, Gorillaz, and more.

EarthGang’s art experiments with classic and contemporary R&B, jazz, gospel, and funk sounds while their lyricism is influenced by deep societal themes and existential conversations. In 2022, they released their sophomore album “Ghetto Gods,” which skilfully conveyed self-discovery, spirituality, and the struggle for social justice paired with a production palette of buoyant southern beats.

Over the past year, EarthGang has been rolling out their audacious project “EarthGang vs the Algorithm” with the release of their EPs “RIP Human Art” and “ROBOPHOBIA,” which features thought-provoking music that explores complex themes of human creativity and artistic expression in today’s digital age.
