SHY Martin (Sara Hjellström) is a prolific singer-songwriter from Lerdala, Sweden. Not too long ago, she released rare Handycam footage for her “Break With Me” single.
SHY Martin – “Break With Me” music video
“When I was growing up, my parents had a video camera with them wherever we went. So Handycams always give me a feeling of nostalgia. After watching old videos from my childhood, I decided to buy one myself to capture moments here and there. The video that my brother and I put together for ‘Break With Me’ is a collection of clips from the time we created the song.” – SHY Martin stated
‘Break With Me’ tells a painful-to-hear tale about a vulnerable young woman who is on the verge of breaking up with her significant other. Apparently, they have tried every available thing to salvage their fading relationship, but unfortunately, they can’t seem to iron out their differences. Later, she tells her companion to stick around a little while longer because they won’t be seeing each other for a while.
‘Break With Me’ takes listeners through the intoxicating mixed emotions that arise when two people become strangers to one another. The sensitive tune contains a dying relationship-based narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and harmony-driven melodies that will resonate well with fans of Elina, Elliphant, and Zara Larsson. Also, “Break With Me” possesses dreamy guitar-driven instrumentation flavored with a warm bedroom pop aroma. Furthermore, the video for “Break with me” consists of a collection of clips filmed by SHY Martin and friends from around the time the single came to life during the pandemic in Stockholm, Sweden.
“Your little brother’s gonna blame me, guess that’s how it’s gonna be for now. But I hope when he gets older, him and I can talk it out.”
“This year has been overwhelming in many ways. For the first time in years, I have spent a lot of time with myself and taken the space to reflect. I have thought a lot about how these strange times we are in have changed so many relationships. Some have become stronger, and others have broken down. We started writing ‘Break With Me’ one summer evening in the car on the way home from a lake, but I relate to it now more than ever.” – SHY Martin explained
SHY Martin first established herself as a songwriter. Her path launched in dynamic fashion via her co-write and featured vocal on Mike Perry’s “The Ocean” single in 2016. The song became Spotify Sweden’s most-streamed song that year. Since then, Martin has written for artists such as Ellie Goulding, The Chainsmokers, Kygo, and Bebe Rexha, which have generated over 2.5 billion streams. Her music has collectively generated over 300 million streams, making her one of pop’s brightest stars.

“During the year, I also thought about how I want to work with my music. And I chose to start my own record label, to have full freedom every step of the way. This is the first song I will release on my own label, so it feels very special.” – SHY Martin stated
‘Break With Me’ is the first single to be released by SHY Martin on her brand-new record label named SHY Recordings. The debut song was written by SHY Martin, Nirob Islam, Hampus Hjellström, and Litens Anton Nilsson. Also, “Break With Me” was produced by Martin, Felix Flygare Floderer, and Carl Silvergran.

“I’ve been standing in your driveway hoping we could work things out. But even when we’re in the same space, I can’t reach you when I’m reaching out. We’re at the end of all our troubles, so you might as well stick around. And we can open all the bottles, know I won’t see you for a while so stay with me.” – lyrics
