“At its core, ‘Got You’ is a classic, retro-tinged love song. I wanted to write something that was genuine and unafraid to be sweet and vulnerable like all the old soul slow jams that I grew up loving. Of course, we put some modern touches on it to keep it feeling current, but this song has an old soul and a tender heart.” – Shannon Lauren Callihan explained
‘Got You’ contains a love-based narrative and soothing smooth vocals that will resonate well with fans of Snoh Aalegra, Christian Kuria, and Lianne la Havas. The mellow tune possesses temperate drums and guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with neo-soul and indie R&B elements. Furthermore, “Got You” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from Shannon Lauren Callihan in the near future as she continues to release new music.

“‘Got You’ is a song about the best of love. The kind of love where whatever ups and downs you may be going through in your day-to-day, you never lose that calm, centered feeling that comes with being absolutely and wholly committed to something bigger than yourself. It’s about the kind of love where it feels like your heart exists outside of your body, and all you can do is just lay yourself bare and give in to that feeling. That’s what the chorus is getting at when it says, ‘tell me I got you. I say it right back to you.” It’s about that exchange between you and the person you’re with – where you want to know they’re all in on the love you’re building, and you want them to know you’re all in on it too.” – Shannon Lauren Callihan explained
Shannon Lauren Callihan has found a way to bring classic sounds to a new audience. Finding inspiration across the spectrum, from Tom Misch and Anita Baker, Callihan fuses infectious pop melodies with improvised jazz instrumentals to create a sound all her own. In 2016, she moved to Nashville, where she homed in on her songwriting and instrumental abilities.
The release of her first single, “What You Do to Me,” in 2019, was the culmination of years spent building a fanbase on Instagram around her guitar playing and finding her sound within the music city scene.

“I’ve always been into music, but never saw myself being an artist. Maybe it was growing up in a small town, but Nashville pushed me to explore that side of me. It’s taken me awhile to get where I am, but I just had to connect all the dots. I’ve started doing what I want and don’t worry if it’s going to make it to the radio. I’ve done so much as an independent artist, and I feel confident in who I am. Now it’s all about putting out good sh*t and building that fan base.” – Shannon Lauren Callihan stated
Shannon Lauren Callihan has seen famous stages including Red Rocks while playing lead guitar for Rozzi on the O.A.R. and American Authors tour. The momentum has continued with editorial playlisting from Spotify on their “Nu-Funk” and “Ready for the Day” playlists. Also, Callihan has landed partnerships with Fender, Supro, Orangewood Acoustic Guitars, and Ernie Ball.
