“I do a lot of producing at home when I write music. So ‘Witness’ was a fully fleshed-out concept that I took to Kay to take to the next level. He brought it up to industry standards. I love lush productions and layered vocal harmonies and this song represent this fully as we worked super hard on creating a spacious, ambient production while adding layer upon layer of backing vocals, which is specifically noticeable in the bridge after the second chorus. ‘Witness’ commentates on the internal battles of seeing the people around you have love, something you want but can’t have unless the walls you’ve put up come down. Also, it’s a song I wrote when I was battling with my sexuality, with being a witness representing myself seeing but not experiencing what I wanted as I was scared.” – Sam Sly explained
