“One of my favorite singles on the EP is ‘Monday.’ It tells a story that encourages people to pursue their passion, even when it doesn’t feel possible. This song definitely lets the listener in on how I felt when I was working a job that didn’t align with my purpose. ‘Monday’ contains an optimistic narrative, sultry flavors, and ear-pleasing vocals. The downtempo tune possesses thudding drums, piano keys, and bass-laden instrumentation flavored with a warm indie R&B vibration. Ria Barkr sings, “I pay the bills with a job I don’t like. Monday on my mind, always watching my clock.” The lyrics epitomize all that the song is about, which finds Ria making her way in the world while always keeping a focus on what she’s looking to achieve.
Furthermore, “Monday” is featured on Ria Barkr’s debut EP, entitled, “Alpha She.” The seven-track project contains a fresh collection of songs about empowering feminine masculinity and challenging society’s view of women.

Ria Barkr has an undeniable passion for creating music as deep as her roots. She’s a relative of the Carter family and the daughter of a singing prodigy who has worked with Whitney Houston, Mick Jagger, and Bob Marley.

Ria Barkr spent her formative years listening to modern icons like Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, and Jennifer Hudson, all of whom have influenced her buttery-smooth vocals. No stranger to the stage, she’s also shared the stage with Emmy-winning Broadway stars and made it onto America’s Got Talent at just 14 years old.
But it was when Ria did a session with renowned jazz pianist, Jeff Franzel (Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, The Temptations), that she was ready to begin singing about her own truth. In February 2020, Ria came to the UK to start working with UK producer, Jared Harding, and together, they recorded the ALPHA SHE EP during the global lockdown.
