For over two decades, Rebecca Haviland has captivated audiences with her powerful vocals and introspective songwriting. As the powerhouse frontwoman of Whiskey Heart, alongside renowned musicians like Chris Anderson (Martin Sexton), Kenny Shaw (Dispatch), Todd Caldwell (Crosby, Stills & Nash), and Nicky Barbato, Rebecca effortlessly fuses Roots Rock, Soul, and Americana. Not too long ago, Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart (@rebeccahavilandandwhiskeyheart) released their latest single “Fourth Of July,” the first track from their forthcoming EP “Early Mornings.”

In her own words, Rebecca Haviland explains, “‘Fourth of July’ is a love song, but not in the traditional sense. Each verse reflects on a different relationship in my life, one that held a lot of meaning, but didn’t work out for many reasons: we were at different places in life, had different goals, and were growing in different directions. But all of these relationships were important in making me who I am and eventually helped me recognize when I had found the right love. This song is actually two songs put together. I wrote them at two separate times, and just like the story in the song when these two songs found each other, it was meant to be. We used a vintage Casiotone keyboard routed through my electric guitar pedalboard to make some of the ethereal keyboard sounds.”

A native New Yorker, Rebecca Haviland’s musical roots run deep, sparked by her grandparents, who were professional musicians in Westchester’s vibrant supper club scene in the 1950s. “Their house was a musical sanctuary,” Rebecca recalls, where impromptu family jam sessions lit the spark of her musical passion.
After high school, Rebecca pursued music studies and interned at Acme Studios in Mamaroneck, New York. There, studio owner Peter Denenberg (Deep Purple, The Spin Doctors) discovered her talent and offered her the chance to record an EP. “That single experience changed the course of my life,” says Rebecca. Her debut gig at The Bitter End in New York City—a venue where Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan also began—marked the start of her enduring career.
But Rebecca’s impact extends beyond the stage; for over a decade, she has nurtured the next generation of musicians as a professor at Purchase College’s Music Conservatory, where she shares her industry insights and inspires students to push their creative boundaries.

Most recently, Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart have finalized their new project (Double EPs) with producer Paul Loren. The first EP “Late Nights” was released on November 15th, 2024. “Early Mornings,” the sister album to “Late Nights,” will be released in May of 2025. While “Late Nights” captured the essence of New York City’s after-hours—the moment when the bars begin to empty, and glitter eyeshadow smudges across your face—”Early Mornings” embraces a more grounded, rock ‘n’ roll/americana spirit. It’s the soundtrack to that hushed, introspective hour when you finally make it home, watching the first light of dawn break through the silence, offering a fleeting moment to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re headed. Both EPs will be released as a full album entitled “Late Nights and Early Mornings,” exclusively on vinyl in June 2025 with a vinyl presale available now at rebeccahaviland.com.
In her own words, Rebecca Haviland explains, “I write my most honest songs in the in-between hours, the late nights and early mornings, where the world slows down, and the only thing left is me and my guitar. This album was born from the energy of late nights and early mornings, and I can’t wait to bring that same raw, electric feeling to the stage with my band this year.”
Drawing inspiration from icons like Aretha Franklin and Linda Ronstadt and current artists like Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell, Rebecca continues to create music that resonates deeply with audiences. In addition to her work with Whiskey Heart, Rebecca has been a touring/session musician and backing vocalist for over 15 years. She has backed artists at Lilith Fair and Bonnaroo and on Ellen, Good Morning America, and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She has toured North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan for several artists including Zayn Malik, Rachel Platten, and Nick Howard.
