Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart blends Americana, Rock, and Folk elements, creating a unique musical tapestry that’s both relatable and refreshing. “We All Cry A Little” finds each member bringing their own distinct flavor to the mix.

Rebecca Haviland stated, “This is a song about the hardships of choosing a career that has you out on the road, away from your home and family, but that we wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s a song about living this way for so long that you don’t even know what it would be like to do anything else. I liked the idea of juxtaposing the serious theme behind the song with a disco rock n roll vibe, really portraying the sarcasm behind the lyric, ‘living the dream.’ Being a musician is hard, and a lot of people have battle wounds and scars, some physical, like aches and pains from carrying our equipment in and out of clubs for years, some emotional, which can be hard to live with but makes for great songs.”

About the video, Rebecca added, “I wanted the video to portray both sides of the story in the song, first the side of really loving the life of a professional musician and artist, traveling the world, living the dream and playing music for a living. The other side of the story is that behind the scenes there are often a lot of suppressed emotions like exhaustion, anxiety, substance abuse, fear of failure, long periods of time with no day off, etc. I worked with a videographer who I found online that had access to public domain video footage, and together we decided on footage that had a sort of psychedelic, everything seems normal but ‘something isn’t quite right’ vibe. He really nailed the concept. I also made the creative choice to not be in the video as I wanted this video to represent the industry as a whole, not just be reflective of my own personal observations and experiences.”
