Raizy (@official_raizy) is an artist, producer, and songwriter from Cameroon. Not too long ago, he released a feel-good afrobeats single, “RUNNER,” via Universal Music AB.

It’s a mix of playfulness and good vibes, offering positive notes, melodies, and lyrics to inject the souls with good vibrations and to put smiles on the faces of my people. “RUNNER” is Raizy’s heartfelt response to the enduring pain of his people. Serving as a beacon of hope, the song is a gentle reminder that amidst the struggle, there’s still room for joy.

Situated in West-Central Africa, Cameroon borders five countries, including Nigeria and the Republic of Congo. Its denizens speak over 250 languages and harbor a rich musical tradition highlighted by Makossa. With its balance of bass and brass, Makossa exudes a downright magical ability to bring audiences together and move them.
Raizy channels these classic rhythms with a twist of 21st-century afrobeats, soul, and Pop, preserving tradition and introducing a signature style of his own in the process. After producing and co-writing anthems for numerous African acts and building a buzz for his solo artistry, he stands primed to globally amplify the sound of his home on a series of singles for Universal Music and much more to come.

“In Cameroon, there’s a lot happening locally, politically, and socially, and it contributes to what I’m doing. There are good things and bad things we can talk about. I’m trying to push our music to another level though. It’s a part of the country. I want to mix Makossa with trap, pop, house, and anything else I can in order to create something new. I’m going to export this sound worldwide.” – Raizy explained
As the third of six kids, Raizy discovered music via his father, who collected old radio tapes of vintage blues, Country music, and Makossa. He often played them upon returning home from work, catalyzing his son’s interest. In 2015, Raizy received a desktop computer from his father. He taught himself how to produce on FL Studio and spent countless hours on the program.
Initially, Raizy gained traction by producing for a myriad of artists behind the scenes. He powered songs for the likes of Dynastie Le Tigre, Bruce Breezy, Duane, and many more. Supplying background vocals to tracks, he developed his voice and eventually chose to record solo material.

“Most of my songs bring together different genres. It’s Afrobeats, but in a Makossa way in terms of the instruments. It’s many-sided. I’m really going into a lot of different vibes.” – Raizy explained
In 2022, Raizy dropped his debut single “AJOKE” [feat. Billi Nicekid, Duane, Tiyaya, & Snazzy Prince]. Buzz built as he dropped the likes of “My Sound” [feat. Duane] and “Bread,” attracting the attention of Universal Music and signing a deal.
