Ponette and Torine – “Fake My Feelings” single
‘Fake My Feelings’ makes for a wonderfully warm and effervescent listen. The song contains a relatable narrative, fresh pop vocals, and tuneful melodies. Plus, it possesses driving electronic drums, glitchy synths, and noisy guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with rich and euphoric contemporary-pop energy. Furthermore, “Fake My Feelings” is a moody preview of Part I of Ponette’s upcoming album, scheduled for release in 2023. Also, the song follows the release of her highly praised Coucheron collaboration, “Beats Me Up,” at the start of the year, her first piece of new material since her widely praised 2020 debut album, “Nude.”
Torine and Ponette
Ponette grew up in a small, shy town in the south of Norway, where everybody was careful about how they presented themselves. She established early on that it seemingly was important to blend in and not make a fuss about anything. Being also the middle child in a family where the two remaining siblings were seriously ill and/or physically handicapped, she spent her childhood trying to please everyone and not taking up any unnecessary space.
Since then, Ponette has spent her whole adult life trying to challenge herself and to fight that way of being, although it’s still a big part of who she is and ultimately how her mind works. Music is where she can freely express herself and, at times, has been truly lifesaving. This ongoing battle has obviously affected Ponette’s music in every avenue.
Torine and Ponette
Ponette grew up heavily influenced by strong female pop icons such as the Spice Girls and Britney Spears, which allowed her to take inspiration. Today, her favorites reside in artists such as Lorde, Robyn, Tove Lo, Florence + The Machine, Uffie, Veronica Maggio, and Flume.
With a handful of critically acclaimed releases over the past two years, Ponette delivers a dark, catchy, pop sound earning praise from the world’s biggest tastemakers. With recent releases via Toothfairy and Seeking Blue – the label closely associated with MrSuicideSheep (one of YouTube’s largest music channels), shows at prominent Norwegian festivals such as By:Larm, Slottsfjell, and KlubbØya, Ponette has since become a well-respected name in the Scandinavian indie-pop scene.
Ponette – “All the Things She Said” lyric video
The 2020 t.A.T.u cover of “All The Things She Said” has gained more than three million streams across Spotify and YouTube, as well as being synced to the French version of “SKAM,” and being highlighted by another YouTube giant, Cloudkid. Ponette’s debut album, “Nude” (2020) gained massive attention in the blogosphere, with the single “Losing Me” being highlighted by Norway’s biggest radio station NRK P3. Recently, Ponette released a collaboration with Dutch electronic artist DROELOE, gaining more than one million streams in just four months.
Now Ponette is ready with a new EP, and kickstarted the rollout on the 27th of January with the single, “Beats Me Up,” featuring former Grammy-nominated producer Coucheron, which got listed on national radio NRK P3 and support from tastemakers and notable media outlets.
