Optical Disco – “Stay the Night” single
“I know that we are upside down, so hold your tongue and hear me out. I know that we were made to break, so what? I don’t mind.” These lyrics set the tone for Optical Disco’s reimagining of Zedd’s iconic track “Stay the Night” featuring Hayley Williams. With a nod to fans of Purple Disco Machine, Kungs, and Lost Frequencies, Optical Disco has crafted a tune that resonates deeply with listeners.
Disco shared that the journey of recreating “Stay the Night” began during a late-night session. Procrastination on other projects and a lack of inspiration led to a bold decision: to push everything aside and dive into a new creative project. “It all started last year during a late-night session,” Disco explained. “I was procrastinating on other projects and running low on inspiration. I decided to throw caution to the wind, push everything I was working on to the side, and get creative.”
One of the most intriguing aspects of “Stay the Night” was the challenge Optical Disco set for himself. Could he create a transcendent disco track using only Ableton plugins? The outcome was a vibrant mix of shimmering arps, soulful pianos, lush strings, and angelic vocals. “It’s amazing what you can achieve when you’re avoiding responsibilities,” Disco stated. Through experimentation, intuition, and a hefty dose of caffeine, “Stay the Night” was born. The track stands as a testament to what can be achieved when limitations are embraced, showcasing the boundless creativity that emerges from such constraints.
“Are you gonna stay the night? Doesn’t mean we’re bound for life.”
“I know that we are upside down, so hold your tongue and hear me out. I know that we were made to break, so what? I don’t mind. You kill the lights, I’ll draw the blinds. Don’t dull the sparkle in your eyes, I know that we were made to break. So what? I don’t mind… I am a fire, you’re gasoline, come pour yourself all over me. We’ll let this place go down in flames.” – lyrics
