Offset talks with Kelley Carter about life and his new “JEALOUSY” single with his wife, Cardi B

Good Morning America kicked off Hip-Hop Turns 50 (its weeklong series honoring the genre’s 50th anniversary) with an inspiring new interview with GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstar, Offset (@offsetyrn). ABC News correspondent, Kelley Carter, asked the right questions. Offset opened up about his start in music, the moment he first felt successful, working with his GRAMMY Award-winning wife, Cardi B (@iamcardib), and their latest single, “JEALOUSY.” Also, Offset talked about how Jamie Lee Curtis became a part of the song’s music video and more.

When Carter asked Offset about whether it was challenging being vulnerable in “Jealousy,” he replied, “As a man, always–being vulnerable–is a challenge, but sometimes you gotta be vulnerable. It’s real. I don’t want to be fake.”

Offset admitted he sent Jamie Lee Curtis a direct message on Instagram when he asked her to be part of the “Jealousy” music video. She responded immediately by saying she would do it but he had to first “follow” her back on Instagram.

Beyond music, Offset admitted that he’s usually a softie when parenting his daughters but acts more as the disciplinarian with his sons. On hip-hop’s cultural influence over the last 50 years, he said, “As hip-hop artists, we are very artistic. We influence every genre of music.”

Offset shared, “I first felt successful when I had a song on the radio. That was a big rush.” Later, he talked about getting his start at the age of eight dancing in a Whitney Houston music video. “It was crazy seeing Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown,” he stated. “I still remember it like it was yesterday.”
