These momentous sets from the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Asake, Ayra Starr, Tyla, and many more have paved the way for Afrobeats and Amapiano to dominate on the world’s biggest stages. As told by Ghanaian highlife, reggae, and hip-hop artist Black Sherif and award-winning, platinum-selling band The Compozers, Camidoh, and more, the exploration of Afrobeats goes beyond mere melodies; it delves into the heart of a global phenomenon that has transcended borders.

The film also plots the more recent explosion of Amapiano, the African dance music genre bursting out of SA. With its distinctive blend of house music and local South African sounds, Amapiano has held a firm grip over dance floors globally, becoming a symbol of innovation and cultural resurgence. Speaking about the growth of Amapiano around the world and the infectious vibes of the groove, are the Grammy-nominated Musa Keys, “Dancing Queen” Kamo Mphela, and energetic Amapiano riser Skyla Tylaa. The artists give their first-hand account of what the Amapiano movement is and why it’s come to be loved by many all around the world, surrounded by scenes from the popular Piano People stage on the beach in Portugal.
