“I used to watch my uncles hang out by the Fence ’till my uncle hit the Fence and ended up in the Feds. Crockpot in the summer, raised by a single mother. C*caine in my socks, never touched no Baking Soda. Stop Sign with the homies, lookin’ out for one another. Fist Fights at the Park, lookin’ out for undercovers. That’s the sh*t that we was raised in. Growing up as a kid, with family in the State Pen’. That ain’t the life that was meant for me.” – lyrics

“Waiting” was inspired by Miles Gaines and The Game’s discussions on coming as far as they have come in life. With the city being cold as it is, it’s not out of the ordinary for them to try to stay grounded every day while trying to find their way back home.

“Waiting” contains real-life raps and a relatable narrative that will resonate well with fans of The Game, J. Cole, Luke Christopher, and Anderson .Paak. Miles Gaines raps, “I done spent decades on this music sh*t bumpin’ Ludacris, Jadakiss, and St. Lunatics. Lately, my career’s been a candle in the wind but I ain’t goin’ nowhere till mama up in that Benz.”

“I been waiting so damn long tryna find my way back home.”

“When I was writing the record, I was looking at how far I had come. Not only within music but in life itself. With all of those happy thoughts, I sent the track over to Chuck (The Game) and described it as a ‘still trying to find oneself.’ I guess the point of it all is we never stop growing or learning and we’re always trying to find our way to a place that makes us feel grounded (home).” – Miles Gaines explained

“Waiting” follows Miles Gaines signing with 10k Projects via Warner Music, and the song is featured on his latest album, “Heavy is the Crown.”
