Mila J – “Friend Zone”
“Now see normally, I do not do this sh*t. But ooh, I’m so ready to do your sh*t. Throw it back for ya ‘cause you know the deal. When I hit ya back with that Netflix and chill, yeah, let me tell you how I want it. Tell you just the way to hit when you tryna push up on it. I ain’t tryna hear you tell me that you’re coming. ‘Cause I’m tryna go for rounds and then end it in the morning. We ain’t gotta cuddle, that ain’t really been my thang. I already fell it gripping ni^^a in my ring. I see you wanted me, ain’t gotta play no games. And normally we take this sober but so you know.”
Mila J’s singing and rapping idols are TLC and Missy Elliott, and her real name is Jamila Chilumbo. She started rapping at the age of four, and she was inspired by a deep admiration for the Fat Boys and the ’80s cult hip-hop movie Krush Groove. Her father was a studio musician, and her sisters are Jhené Aiko and Miyoko.
‘Friend Zone’ was previously released on J’s “The Waiting Game” mixtape. The single contains an interpolation of “Anywhere“, a hit song by the ‘90s R&B group, 112.
