“Maybe, I’m being selfish lately though, I can’t help it. And I wish I can solve this for you. Can’t remember the last time you asked me about my life. Sick of shining the spotlight on you. And I don’t wanna be the one who cries right now. No, I don’t really feel like being strong right now.” – lyrics
‘Run To’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who shares a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, their day-to-day activities are starting to take a toll on her in a bad way. Oftentimes, she can’t be there for her partner because every time she tries to, she loses a part of herself in the struggle. With an optimistic heart, she tells her companion, “I can be the one you run to when you need someone to love you.”
‘Run To’ is a call to action about not losing yourself in a relationship, especially when what you give doesn’t always feel reciprocated. The song is a blast of empowering energy and hard realization, best appreciated by shouting the lyrics with friends in the car (with the windows down) or equally by yourself in your room (with the door closed).
