Mayah releases an attractive debut single, entitled, “Pray”

Mayah is a rising singer-songwriter based in Brisbane, Australia. Not too long ago, she released an attractive debut single, entitled, “Pray”.

“I need a life jacket ‘cause I’m swimming in a sea with all these life hackers. Everybody wanna fit in like we pre-packaged. Fabricated Insta famous like we all made it. Yeah, we all made it, but I’m a deep believer. My second cousin asked me once if he could be a winner. I said, “Brother, everybody here born a sinner. Don’t let them take it from ya’.” – lyrics

Mayah started penning “Pray” on a plane while contemplated how social media and its curated reality culture affect and influence us. After writing it, she realized that most people have big dreams and want to be seen.

Therefore, she started to question if her friends are really her friends and requested prayers to keep her head above water. Also, she recognized that living a simple life might not be a bad idea after all.

‘Pray’ contains a relatable storyline, harmonious vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with urban-pop, trap, and contemporary R&B elements.

“The song is about how we show curated snippets of our lives on social media but it’s not the full side; it’s the highlight reel. It’s often hard not to compare or question your own happiness. But it’s more important to stay true to yourself and what you love and want to do. Forget about what the f**k anyone else is doing.” – Mayah

Mayah is a name you should remember and an exciting new artist to watch.

The bubbly songstress grew up listening to an assorted sonic diet fashioned by Lauryn Hill, Janet Jackson, TLC, Moby, and Massive Attack to name a few artists.

Her musical journey began when she moved to New York City, where she worked crappy jobs as a waitress. Not too long afterward, pieces fell in place when she ate hummus in Shaggy‘s kitchen while he rapped and watched his producers work on a G-Eazy record.
