lùisa is a talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Germany. Not too long ago, she released an appealing audiovisual for her “New Woman” single.

“I’m moving on in the desert nights and I’m climbing high. Could have fallen twice but all inside of me is moving towards the light. I feel like a new woman and I’m moving on, leave the past behind. Raised underground for the longest time now, all inside of me aims to cross the lines. I feel like a new woman. Change, breaking my cage, making mistakes, taking the stage. Feel like a new woman today.” – lyrics
‘New Woman’ finds lùisa telling her story of being a woman in an industry that is still clearly male-dominated. For lùisa, the biggest problem is often not even necessarily the lack of acceptance of women in the first place, but the industry’s fixation on sexist cliché images. The “girl with the guitar,” “the lovely voice,” “the muse,” the “delicate fairy.”
‘New Woman’ contains an empowering narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and harmonious melodies. The likable tune possesses bass-driven instrumentation flavored with ’70s-inspired disco and alternative-pop elements. Furthermore, “New Woman” serves as a wonderful presentation of what listeners can expect to hear from lùisa’s upcoming third full-length album, entitled, “New Woman,” set to be released on May 7, 2021. The album tackles grief, female empowerment, and social activism with stirring and emotional pop laced with a touch of eighties indie-rock nostalgia.
“They say I’m like the moon, I let them know I am the sun.”
“It’s my song for empowerment and change. It‘s about breaking the caging patterns of stereotypes that wound our souls and overcoming internalized self-doubts taught by sexism. Let’s stand together in inclusive solidarity and fight against gender inequality and racism, which so often go hand in hand. The feminist movements of the last few years have totally encouraged me to talk about these things. It’s about the technician who can’t imagine me programming my own loops. Or about all the people who ask me if I don’t want to do something ‘sensible’ someday. Male musicians never get asked that kind of thing.” – lùisa explained
Not too long ago, lùisa performed on “Inas Nacht”, one of Germany’s most popular late-night shows. Also, she is the first and only German artist to sign a contract with the Canadian indie label, Nettwerk. Her song “Under The Wild Skies” was used in the TV-Series “Orange Is The New Black” and “Heartbeat.” So far, lùisa’s music has taken her to countries like Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, England, and the USA.
“You have to trust the dark to see what comes to light.”
