“When I’m with you, I can barely breathe. I think that you cast a spell over me. Can’t tell if I’m light on air, I feel like I’m floating. Hot head, weak knees, I feel you in my chest. I’m tired, so how come I can’t get no rest? I feel like I love you, but do you even care?” – lyrics
‘When I’m With You’ tells an intriguing tale about a nervous and anxious young woman who questions the longevity of a challenging relationship she shares with her significant other. The weight of it has her feeling drained and she believes her partner stole her heart like a thief in the night. But, if it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t be able to recognize herself in the mirror. Because he’s her everything, she feels broken when she isn’t near him. Later, she tells her companion, “I’ve tried everything to get you off my brain and nothing gets me higher than your name. I’m floating and spinning and out of control, I’m aimlessly flying in search of my soul.”
‘When I’m With You’ is a personal ode to a significant other, presented in a distinctly accessible, welcoming manner – making this an easy choice for romantics far and wide. The live-style energy is infectious, the genuine heart of the delivery proves simply joyful, and the whole arrangement – complete with its harmonies, poetic images, and the timeless euphoria of love – leaves delight and possibility lingering in the air.
“You are like glue, stuck in my mind, got me running blind. That’s how I feel when I’m with you.”
“‘When I’m With You’ is a fresh and fun twist on the familiar sound of ‘70s soul. Jason and I have been friends and have made music together for so many years now, so we wanted to try writing a song together, reflecting the depth of young love. We hope it both uplifts our listeners and offers them a take on love that they can relate to. Thank you so much for listening!” – Kelsey Blackstone explained
‘When I’m With You’ pays tribute to a timeless musicality and presents an optimism that reflects the depth of young love. Featuring organic musicianship, smooth production, and faultlessly meandering vocals, “When I’m With You” kicks off the warmer seasons with a colorful big-band vibe that naturally enchants its audience. Furthermore, the song offers a Spring-time groove and celebratory sentiment that naturally lifts the mood.
