On “Date Myself,” Kayla DiVenere vents her frustrations with modern dating culture and all the disappointments that come with it. After feeling used up, she sadly sings her pain away, “I look in the mirror, I’ve been through hell. I wanna feel what I never felt.” Maybe, one day Kayla will feel what she never felt, a long and lasting relationship with someone who isn’t going to treat her badly. But until that time comes, she has to somehow deal with heartbreak as it comes while getting to know the beautiful young woman she is slowly becoming.
