Jessica Woodlee is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter. Not too long ago, she released a music video for her debut single, entitled, “High School”.

Jessica Woodlee – “High School”

“Just another train stop before you reach your destination. Another roadblock, got to find a way to be patient ’cause high school doesn’t last forever. Just another hard day, a new entry in the journal. Same old hallways, the hours feel like they are eternal. You’ll look back and smile at all of the things you’ve seen. Look back and smile at all the messed up in betweens.” – lyrics

‘High School’ tells an inspiring tale of a young lady who reflects on her high school days. Apparently, while doing so, she paints a vivid picture of teenaged-reality that we all can relate to. Also, the song contains a relatable storyline, sweet soul vocals, and piano-driven instrumentation flavored with sentimental pop elements.

“I was struggling to make it through the start of freshman year when I wrote ‘High School’. I was faced with isolation, loneliness, social exclusion as well as public and internet bullying. On the surface, the song is simply me trying to cope with these everyday challenges of high school and attempting to look at the bigger picture. I have since realized that ‘High School’ can really be a metaphor for any rough time in anyone’s life because no matter how hard it may become, nothing lasts forever. So, we need to grab onto the positives and use them to weather the storms. ” – Jessica Woodlee

‘High School’ is the lead single from Woodlee’s upcoming debut EP, entitled, “Karma”.

“Much of the EP is about overcoming adversities and learning to love yourself. I had to figure out how to be true to myself in spite of the world around me. For me, there is something very powerful in believing that one can persevere no matter what! Being vulnerable in your emotions takes true bravery. Enjoy life and rise above. It’s my hope that this EP is both a comfort and an anthem for those that feel that their voice is being lost.”

In conclusion, Jessica Woodlee is an artist you need to keep an ear out for in 2019. Therefore, we recommend adding her “High School” single to your personal playlist. Also, let us know how you feel about it in the comment section below.
