Isla Rico (@weareislarico) is an indie alternative-pop trio from Manchester. Not too long ago, they released a vibrant, anthemic new single, “Wavelength,” produced by the renowned Andy Gannon (Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Robbie Williams, BILK, Courteeners) via Regent Street Records.

“Wavelength” showcases more of Isla Rico’s radiant ability to balance mature musicality and infectious melodies. The new single perfectly captures the radiant sense of joy and energy that characterizes their live shows, delivering bright guitar tones with tight danceable drums surrounded by a warming mix of synth and piano. Led by strikingly charismatic, upbeat, and catchy lead vocals, the track plays on its pop tendencies to great effect to give a summery, effortlessly enjoyable tone.
Speaking about the process behind the single, the band explains: “Recording ‘Wavelength’ started out how most of our tracks do, cozied up in Andy Gannon’s Manchester studio throwing ideas at the wall. We didn’t know when Cal wrote this song and launched the idea out at us all it would evolve into exactly what we needed! As the song came more and more to life, we realized we had something that not only perfectly encapsulated and emoted the band’s ‘carefree good times’ philosophy and message, but also something that was musically classic and timeless, as well as striking all the indie-pop tones that make it equally fresh and current. We felt it was almost our ‘dancing in the moonlight’ by pure accident! Wavelength is by far our favorite track to date from us and we can’t wait to launch it into the world and spread the positive mindset message!”

Formed in a homemade tiki bar in Manchester, Isla Rico has rapidly emerged as a fresh force in the indie music scene. The band’s unique blend of storytelling lyricism, vibey instrumentals, and big melody hooks has earned them a loyal fan base and seen them sell out shows across the UK.
Having amassed over 100,000 streams on their previous EP, “Eternal Optimist,” the trio have shared stages with the likes of The Grogans and played at UK festivals including The Great Escape and Y Not Festival as well as headlining venues across the UK. The trio continues to cement their one-to-watch, garnering placements across Spotify playlists and media attention from a number of tastemakers.
Isla Rico is planning a headline tour in March/April 2025, with dates to be announced soon. The band members include Cal Richards – Lead Vocals, Jasper Whitehead – Lead Guitar & Keys, Harvey Rafferty – Rhythm Guitar & Vocals, Brad Hull – Bass (Live), Sayon Beaufort-Harwood – Drums (Live), and Andy Gannon – Producer (plus studio guitar & bass).
