Elli Ingram is a talented singer-songwriter from Brighton, England. Not too long ago, she released a dazzling neo-soul single, titled, “Fool’s Gold,” featuring Grammy-and-BRIT-nominated UK star, Mahalia. The song follows hot on the heels of Elli’s January single release, “Growing Pains.”
Elli Ingram – “Fool’s Gold” single featuring Mahalia
‘Fool’s Gold’ outlines the complications of seeing eye to eye in a relationship. Elli Ingram croons, “Ain’t you tired of taking, ‘cause I’m tired of giving.” Enhancing the message is Mahalia’s stunning guest verse, with both artists reiterating the futility of flashy presents that their partners wish to gift them. As Elli loudly proclaims in the chorus, “It don’t mean sh*t, if you don’t kiss my lips, babe.”
‘Fool’s Gold’ contains a problematic relationship-based narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Leah Harris, Adele, and Dafne Adriana. The smooth soul cut possesses melodic drum-laden instrumentation flavored with neo-soul and contemporary R&B elements. Produced by long-time collaborators, Aston Rudi and Felix Joseph, the song also features backing vocals from Bibi Bourelly.
“Our love is a hazard. Our love’s in a casket.”
“This is a special one. My first ever feature, produced by Felix & Aston with the vocals of Queen Mahalia. It feels empowering to share this moment with May and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it and hopefully feel the same.” – Elli Ingram stated
‘Fool’s Gold’ follows Elli Ingram’s successful run of intimate sold-out shows across Europe, including Amsterdam, London, and Paris. She was joined on stage by her incredible all-female band, with support from Canadian rising star, Laura Roy, in both London and Paris. Her Berlin show is due to be rescheduled after an unexpected postponement.
Releasing under her imprint, PINC (Promoting Independent Newcomers), Elli’s second studio album, “Bad Behaviour,” will highlight a more mature yet similarly vulnerable side to her music, which has seen wide international acclaim over the past few years. Showcasing the rawness of her effortlessly soulful voice, Elli has carved out her sound through honest hard-hitting personal lyrics with a hip-hop flare. The project will be available on May 12th, 2023.
