Dragonfruit is a Dutch quartet based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Not too long ago, they released a groovy electro-soul single, titled, “Honeymoon Phase.”

Opening with swinging electronic beats and swelling analog synth pads, “Honeymoon Phase” creates an uplifting electronic backdrop to reflect against the heartfelt, melancholic lyricism. Topped with the silky, charismatic lead vocals which are prevalent across the EP, the track is given a commercial edge to contrast against the alternative electronic nature of the musical backdrop.
As brass enters the latter stages of the track, the euphoric nature of the band’s shimmering musicality is emphasized to great effect, creating a vibrant climax when combined with the bouncing bass, choppy rhythms, and layers of electronics. Furthermore, “Honeymoon Phase” is the title track of Dragonfruit’s upcoming EP, which features the standout single, “Flashing Lights.”
