Exploring the Delightful Sound of daste.’s “Tide” Single

daste. (@daste.music) is an Australian trio made up of Callum, Braxton, and Tyler. Not too long ago, they released a delightful neo-soul-leaning single, “Tide,” which will be featured on their upcoming album titled “dasteWORLD,” set to be released on February 19th. The project includes singles such as “Around,” “Colours,” “Atlas,” “Starwriter,” and “River.”

In his own words, Callum MacDonald explains, “‘Tide’ is the tale of two songs really. On one of our writing trips, we had written a song called ‘Tide,’ which features the first verse and pre-chorus you’ll hear on this track. It had a slightly similar vibe, maybe a little more upbeat. Fast forward a month or so, I had uploaded an Instagram reel of this particular bassline/beat I’d made and got a cool response from a lot of people, and we wanted to try to include the beat in the album somehow.

Turns out the melodies from that original song fit perfectly and when trying to think of a new chorus, Tyler came to us with the ‘Baby won’t you back it up’ line and the rest was history. Ultimately, the lyrics and vibe reflect a longing to break free from pressures and find solace in fleeting, unstructured moments. There’s a pull toward exploring new spaces – both physically and emotionally, to rediscover clarity.”

Back in August, daste. embarked on a three-date Australian tour which saw them playing to a SOLD-OUT audience in Sydney. Shortly after wrapping up those shows, the band made their way to North America for their debut headline tour, which had them playing New York City, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Austin, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.

daste. then had to make a quick trip back to Australia to showcase at SXSW Sydney in October, and by late November, they were back on the road supporting one of their favorite bands Tora on their Australian album tour.

Australian fans can catch daste. as they support Still Woozy on his Australian tour in February and UK fans can catch them playing Footsteps Festival, Do2Dot Festival, and Cross The Tracks in May.
