“Throughout my life, I’ve missed a lot of people who didn’t necessarily need to be there. ‘I Miss You’ is basically a culmination of all the thoughts and arguments you have with yourself about still wanting someone in your life. The conversation you have about whether or not the beautiful and positive negate all the bad. The song was co-written with close friends Antonella Ponce and Abby Taiwah. And it’s the first song I’ve had a hand in not only writing but also producing and engineering.” – Dana McCoy

‘I Miss You’ contains a relatable storyline, warm soul vocals, and a jazzy instrumentation flavored with a neo-soul scent.

“I’m inspired by a lot of artists, but I think three that I really love would be Solange, SZA, and Adele. There’s such a beautiful openness and vulnerability that comes with their work. They are singing about their stories and their truths but they always feel like your emotions, and that’s something I aspire to do with my own music.” – Dana McCoy

Dana McCoy is a Junior at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She is projected to follow in the footsteps of her predecessors Elle Varner, Fletcher, and OSHUN. She conceptualized her music video with director Stephanie Tinsley, a fellow NYU student.

“I’m so happy that I got to make a music video for Dana. She’s such an incredible person and artist. I’m also so glad we got to make this with a fully female crew and post-production team. Everyone involved in this project is really special to me” – Stephanie Tinsley
