Cosmo’s Midnight (@cosmos_midnight) is an Australian electronic music duo consisting of twin brothers, Cosmo and Patrick Liney. Not too long ago, they returned with a lovely visualizer for their new disco-dance-pop single, “Borrowed Time,” featuring ARIA Award winner, Forest Claudette (@forestclaudette), via Black Butter.
Cosmo’s Midnight – “Borrowed Time” (Visualizer) featuring Forest Claudette
“In a way, ‘Borrowed Time’ started early last year, we were in our session doing our own thing, and Forest Claudette was next door doing their own thing. Suddenly they busted down the door without warning and tracked down some insane, one-take vocals on a demo we were mid-writing. We were just blown away in that moment and knew we were gonna write a song together. We ended up meeting in proper backstage at Ruel’s album tour and ended up talking real deep real quick, about long-distance relationships and the struggles that come with them. They ended up coming over to our house and tracked the vocals in our kitchen. Although they haven’t sung over our style of music before, Forest glides over this track with their effortless melodic and lyrical flow, as well as a knack for storytelling and imagery, it was such a pleasure to work with this beautiful human.” – Cosmo’s Midnight explained
With a knack for undeniably catchy basslines and anthemic synths, “Borrowed Time” chases away the winter blues. The track exudes unbridled joy and body-moving rhythms that instantly get stuck in your head. Taking an optimistic view of a long-distance relationship, “Borrowed Time” sweetens the bitter reality that exists with long-distance relationships and instead, imagines a blissful reunion. Furthermore, “Borrowed Time” follows Cosmo’s Midnight’s ‘80s disco sample flip in “Gimme Some More,” featuring Shungudzo.

Collectively, “Borrowed Time” and “Gimme Some More” marked the first taste of new music since Cosmo’s Midnight released their 2022 singles “Bang My Line” featuring Tkay Maidza and “Can’t Do Without My Baby.” Before this, the pair released their ARIA-nominated sophomore album “Yesteryear,” following on from their critically acclaimed debut album, “What Comes Next.” Additionally, the duo has collaborated with artists such as KUČKA, BAYNK, Yung Bae, and many more, culminating in a whopping half a billion streams across their entire catalog.
Beyond their music, Cosmo’s Midnight has worked with an incredible line-up of talent, having produced for global superstars BTS on “Fly To My Room” as well as remixes for the likes of Flume, HONNE, Goldlink, and more.
The transformative feeling that has permeated Cosmo’s Midnight’s music over the years has been reflected in the growth of the duo as a performance unit; dominating sold-out stages in Australia and overseas, as well as staking their claim as Australian festival favorites with numerous appearances at the likes of Splendour In The Grass, Laneway Festival, and more.
Forest Claudette
“‘Borrowed Time’ tells the story of how I met my partner and the long-distance relationship that has followed. I’m so grateful to Pat and Cosmo for bringing me into their creative world. It was a really warm and enjoyable collaboration, a nice long walk in the sun, writing from their home studio, and learning tricks on their toy switchblade. Listening back, I’m really proud of this record.” – Forest Claudette stated
Forest Claudette’s music is a comfort for the restless mind. Writing their first song at age 15, the now 24-year-old powers through life’s growing pains with diaristic songwriting—using their thoughtful take on alternative R&B and pop to confront their place in this world. Their 2023 sophomore EP, “Everything Was Green,” earned them two ARIA Awards for Best Cover Art and Best Soul / R&B Release. An enigmatic and passionate performer, Forest has supported the likes of Ruel and Lastlings and graced the stages of Splendour In The Grass, Yours, and Owls.
