Calista Garcia is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Arlington, Virginia. Not too long ago, she released a sentimental folk tune, entitled, “After You’re Gone.”
Calista Garcia – “After You’re Gone” single
“I wrote the song in 2020 as a reaction to the loss of both of my grandmothers. But as I’ve played it out live, I’ve realized just how many people can, unfortunately, relate to it after the last year and a half. It’s a song about loss. Also, it’s a song about love. It’s about how when you lose someone you love, they never really leave you because their impact on your life remains.” – Calista Garcia explained
‘After You’re Gone’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and rich harmonies. The heartfelt tune possesses guitar-driven instrumentation flavored with a warm indie-folk vibration. Furthermore, the song serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Calista Garcia’s upcoming EP, entitled, A Beautiful World, available on October 29, 2021. Also, it follows on the heels of her previously released single, entitled, “My Love, My Love, My Love.”
“I still feel you’re with me.”
Calista Garcia brings a mix of complexity and sophistication to her confessional musings that carry a hint of pop and blues. As seen on Season 16 of NBC’s The Voice, her style hearkens back to ‘70s classic acts such as Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell, but with a fresh modern twist.
A prolific songwriter, Calista plays guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, mandolin, and harmonica. Also, she is a 2021 Chris Austin Songwriting Finalist at Merlefest, a 2021 “She is the Music Foundation” Connect TogetHER Songwriting Fellow, the 2020 National YoungArts Gold Winner in Voice/Singer-Songwriter (top prize), a 2020 Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project Fellow, a 2019 Strathmore Artist in Residence, a 2017 & 2018 Berklee Performance Showcase Winner, the 2017 Bernard Ebbs Young Songwriter of the Year, and a two-time Grammy Foundation Young Songwriter Program Artist.
“I’m trying to make music with the things you left behind.”
