Annelu (Anne Luber) is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter based in Cologne, Germany. Not too long ago, she released a heartbreaking emo-alternative tune, entitled, “Dear”.
Annelu – “Dear” single
“I have no idea how you’re doing or what you’re thinking. Sometimes I feel like getting drunk with you. Maybe you would be honest, could open up, and I would know why I loved you. Oh, you`ve torn me apart for way too long. You thought you could own me, you were wrong. It was never my intention to break your heart. But sorry dear, it was your fault right from the start.” – lyrics
‘Dear’ tells a post-breakup tale of a young woman who breaks her significant other’s heart.
Apparently, this once special person was very controlling, exploited her love, and oftentimes fed her lies that drove her out of her mind.
Later, she admits that she’s better off without her ex who wasn’t worth a single tear that she shed while they were together.

“I don’t think I’ve ever written a song where it was so hard for me to be honest. But it was important for me to deal with those feelings. And as hard as it was for me to put it all into words, it felt so easy for me to write the music to it. ‘Dear’ is a statement to yourself. A reminder of not letting yourself be dependent on or exploited by anyone anymore. Also, giving yourself space within a relationship.” – Annelu
Annelu is a name you should remember.
Her “Dear” single contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and well-placed melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses spherical ‘80s-synths, catchy electric guitar licks, and dynamic drums.
“The song conveys the feeling of a kind of puzzled nostalgia, which has nothing to do with romance anymore. Also, it indulges longingly on the search in the past. But in the end, Annelu only wants one thing with ‘Dear’: To find closure at last.”
