Akemi Fox is a rising singer-songwriter from Manchester, England. Not too long ago, she released a lovely five-track EP, entitled, “You’re My Favourite Day.” With the rest of the year taking shape already, Fox’s new project is sure to provide tranquility and serenity for the remainder of the summer.
Akemi Fox – “You’re My Favourite Day” EP
“The EP is a love letter to the love in my life. The songs give off this warm feeling of summer which is my favorite season. I want to make you feel warm and light all through the year even if you’re listening to it on the coldest day. The title of the EP means how sunny days are my favorite days, but also every day I’m with my love they are too!” – Akemi Fox explained
The much-awaited sophomore project, out now on via NQ Records, opens with an alluring focus track, “So Fine.” The laidback song sets the vibe of the EP, as romantic synth chords and summery guitar riffs pair gracefully with Akemi’s wispy vocals as she croons, “I’ve got a taste for you.”
Heating things up next is the latest single release, “I Want It,” with its afrobeats-tinged production and a catchy guest verse from July 7. Steadying the pace with “Sun,” this third track accentuates the hazy warmth of the project, while the otherworldly “Movie” slows things down with heightened sensuality. The project comes full circle with “See You Soon,” a bouncy R&B-inflected song-weaving layered harmonies with glittery hints of jazz in the form of brass and percussion.
Akemi Fox has had a winning streak of releases over recent years. Her debut EP, “Colour You In,” firmly cemented her place in the UK scene. Since then, Akemi has delivered a string of well-received singles. Also, she is featured on “Balance,” the sophomore album from Manchester hip-hop/soul duo, Children Of Zeus. This success led to Akemi supporting Children Of Zeus across their shows in October 2021 and March this year. Looking ahead, Akemi will support Kojey Radical at Royal Albert Hall.
