Adele is a global superstar from London, England. Not too long ago, she released an endearing and heartfelt video for her remarkable pop single, titled, “I Drink Wine.” The video was lensed by Joe Talbot, 2019 Best Director at Sundance Film Festival for his debut movie, The Last Black Man In San Francisco. The fanciful clip finds Adele floating dreamily down a lazy river in a custom Valentino gown as synchronized swimmers shower her with rosé.
Adele – “I Drink Wine” music video
“How can one become so bounded by choices that somebody else makes? How come we’ve both become a version of a person we don’t even like? We’re in love with the world but the world just wants to bring us down. By putting ideas in our heads that corrupt our hearts somehow. When I was a child, every single thing could blow my mind. Soaking it all up for fun but now I only soak up wine. They say to play hard you work hard find balance in the sacrifice. Yet I don’t know anybody who’s truly satisfied.” – lyrics
There are singers, and then there’s Adele. With an alleviated heart, she unveils her vulnerability to someone special, “You better believe I’m trying to keep climbing. But the higher we climb feels like we’re both none the wiser. So I hope I learn to get over myself.” Adele believes she needs to stop trying to be somebody else because to experience real love, she needs to be her true self. But life is a trickster. So she finds herself obsessing over things she can’t control and seeking approval from people she doesn’t know. In these crazy times, she admits, “I hope to find something I can cling on to ’cause I need some substance in my life. Something real, something that feels true.”
“Everybody wants something, you just want me.”
“You better believe for you I’ve cried high tides ’cause I want you so bad but you can’t fight fire with fire. Listen, I know how low I can go, I give as good as I get. You get the brunt of it all ’cause you’re all I’ve got left. I hope in time we both will find peace of mind. Sometimes, the road less traveled is a road best left behind.” – lyrics
Adele hosted a special “Happy Hour with Adele” fan event last night in West Hollywood where she premiered the video for “I Drink Wine” and took questions from fans. Moderated by comedian Benito Skinner (aka Benny Drama), the event allowed fans to get a sneak peek of the clip, take photos with Adele, and toast the debut of her new music video.
On Friday, November 18, Adele will kick off “Weekends With Adele,” the hotly anticipated Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace. The 32-show residency will run through late March 2023.
