Aarika is an up-and-coming LA-based singer-songwriter from Minneapolis. Not too long ago, she released a lovely audiovisual for her debut single, entitled, “Uber Home Alone,” produced by Alex M Brown.

“After my freshman year of college, I joined the top sorority at my school. I was always attending every party, and spending the whole day dressing up. Also, I was surrounded by guys who wanted one-night stands. I felt alone and out of place in the normalized college culture. Plus, I always compared myself to all the other beautiful sorority girls. During that time, I developed an eating disorder due to not feeling good enough. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t happy because my life looked perfect from the outside.” – Aarika stated
‘Uber Home Alone’ tells an intriguing tale about a young woman who is caught in a repetitive cycle of going out, meeting strangers, and partying into the morning hours. Also, she finds herself drinking heavily, losing focus, and feeling lonely amidst a crowd of people.

Also, the likable tune possesses lush instrumentation flavored with electro-pop, EDM, and modern dance elements. “Partying became a repetitive cycle night after night. So I would always uber home alone to escape the parties. I wrote this song when I came back home, I started writing as therapy to cope with all that I had gone through. I found a local producer, I showed him the melody and lyrics, and we worked together to create a pop/dance track. Also, I always looked up to Rihanna because she infused club music with meaningful lyrics that resonate with people. I want to reach as many people in my generation, college kids who may relate, starting a dialogue with the first generation growing up with social media, and the culture that comes with it.” – Aarika stated
Aarika was introduced to a different genre of music while attending college parties. She saw how EDM and dance music fueled a crowd’s energy. Since then, she’s been inspired to create energetic pop tunes with a flair of a club atmosphere. Also, she writes songs about emotions, mental health, and moments in her life.
