Jayd Ink is a singer-songwriter outta Toronto, Ontario. Not too long ago, she released “DarkSkin”, a song that addresses the issue of light skin versus dark skin in the African-American community.
“You’re pretty for a dark-skinned girl. Really? What exactly does that mean? Many are ashamed of their dark skin, lets embrace it. The term you’re pretty for a dark-skinned girl should never be taken as a compliment because this mentality dates back to hundreds of years ago and has our race as blacks divided and weak. As we fail to realize the black woman, the dark-skinned woman is our melanin at its richest state.”
Released: Sep 20, 2016
Label: ℗ 2016 Jayd Ink(4.5 / 5)
